HMVC ‘Sing Out’ Project.
Harrogate Male Voice Choir, under its musical director Patrick Lee, has initiated a “Sing Out” project, reaching out to and involving children from local primary schools in joint performances. At the final concert of last season’s inaugural “Sing Out” project, HMVC members were joined by choirs from Bilton Grange and Richard Taylor primary schools. Central to the concert was a specially commissioned piece of vocal music called “Here and Now” with libretto by Zimbabwean poet, Penny Sylvester, and music written by Patrick Lee especially for children’s and male voice choirs. “Look at the time! There’s so much to do” bewail the children, overwhelmed with chores and stern parental reminders. Luckily, Grandad arrives with a plan to escape the humdrum routine.
HMVC will be working with Pannal and St Peter’s Primary Schools for the Sing Out project of 2018. The choir will visit both schools to sing to and with the children. This will be followed by the final concert which will take place on Saturday 19th May 2018 at St. Wilfrid’s Church in Harrogate.
We are a friendly, open, community based Male Voice Choir.
